Marko Marković: Extreme Bodies in Transition: Transformations of Performance Art from Socialist Yugoslavia to Neoliberal Post-War Regimes (1980s–2020s)
2.6.–2.6.2026.
Tijekom rezidencije KAMOV u organizaciji MMSU Rijeka, Marko Marković održat će performativno predavanje Ekstremna tijela u tranziciji.
Marko Marković is a performance artist, independent curator, and art producer, currently residing in Rijeka as part of the Kamov Residency Program.
On Tuesday, 2 June at 6 p.m., he will give a performative lecture titled Extreme Bodies in Transition: Transformations of Performance Art from Socialist Yugoslavia to Neoliberal Post-War Regimes (1980s–2020s).
The lecture is based on his research into performance art created during the transitional period and developed under conditions of war and post-war recovery, systemic instability, and postsocialist neoliberal restructuring. Through the body as a site of resistance, endurance, and public engagement, performance becomes both a means of survival and a method of critical reflection. Drawing on his own artistic and curatorial practice, particularly within the Open Performance Days Archive, Marković will also speak about artists whose performance practices were transformed under the influence of socio-political changes in Croatia and the region. The lecture will also feature, for the first time, footage of the funeral of artist Marijan Crtalić.
