“Design as Event” – a Lecture by Marko Golub

23.10.–23.10.2025.

As part of Mirko Ilić’s exhibition Time After Time After Time at the MMSU, on Thursday, October 23 at 5 p.m., the exhibition’s curator Marko Golub will hold a lecture titled Design as Event.

In the lecture Design as Event, Marko Golub will present some of the most interesting examples of Croatian graphic design from the 1960s to the present day, in which the boundaries between design and everyday life, culture and politics, the private and the public, are blurred. In these works, design functions as a sharp intervention into the public sphere. By citing examples ranging from the earliest, anthology works to the most recent ones—and back again—including Mirko Ilić, Boris Bućan, Boris Ljubičić, Sanja Iveković, Gorki Žuvela, Zoran Đukić, Studio Sonda, Dejan Kršić, Dejan Dragosavac Ruta, Dušan Bekar, and others—he will reflect on the continuity of outstanding design production in Croatia, which continues to surprise and enrich our visual environment.

After the lecture, starting at 6 p.m., a guided tour for the public will take place — the last one during the exhibition Time After Time After Time, which runs until Sunday, October 26, 2025. The tour will be led by the exhibition’s curators Marko Golub and Sabina Salamon.
