’90s: Scars’ is an international exhibition temporarily prevented by a pandemic situation, but in order to provide you with an insight into what the exhibition, among other things, should have thematized starting today, May 14 2020, we present a digital archive of texts and VHS videos.
Enjoy!
Today, on Thursday, May 14 2020, we were supposed to open 90s: Scars project, consisting off an international exhibition, symposium and accompanying programs, tackling artistic practices, social and political contexts of the 1990s in Central, Southeast and Eastern Europe, as well as partly Central Asia. The opening program was planned to run from May 14 to May 16, and exhibition was supposed to last last until mid-July.
Instead of the meeting in Rijeka and the opening celebration of the project we’ve hoped for, here we’re offering you to visit the website of our partner, Institute of Contemporary Art in Zagreb, where we bring 90 texts from the 1990s by more than 70 authors and a collection of digitized VHS video-documentation from the same period. This page will be continuously updated, as the digitization of our video archive continues.
The project is organized in cooperation of the Institute of Contemporary Art in Zagreb and the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rijeka, within the program Season of Power, Rijeka 2020 – European Capital of Culture.
Although the entire project has been postponed due to the global COVID-19 crisis, we will remain in contact with you online to inform you about news related to the fresh dates of the exhibition program, and the possibilities to continue with the work on the project.
