A series of portraits of Martina, taken by her partner Ana Opalić (series Martina, Diary Entries, 2009-2023), served as the starting point for the workshop on making portraits and portraying emotions on a person’s face. The portraits depict different emotional states that Martina experienced through different life periods. In addition, the collage technique used by two other artists, Tanja Deman (Stadion, 2013) and Luiza Margan (Out of Role, 2011), provides an excellent means for expressing feelings and engaging in creative exploration. Drawing ideas from the aforementioned works, the workshop is entitled New Faces.

Brief description:

Each participant will choose a specific facial feature that they want to photograph on the face of another member of the work group, starting with hair, eyes, nose, lips and neck. During the photo taking process, the team members will be encouraged to convey different emotions that will contribute to the dynamics of the collage. After shooting, the photos will be printed. The participants will exchange them with each other and jointly assemble the individual parts into a portrait.
